OKI’s recycling-type cash handling machine ‘USCOS III’ now comes standard with mofiria’s vein authentication module.

mofiria Corporation (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Akira Shibata; hereinafter “mofiria”) is pleased to announce that its vein authentication module has been adopted as a standard feature in the “USCOS III” recycling-type cash handling machine developed by OKI Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takahiro Mori; hereinafter “OKI”).

The “USCOS III” is an advanced recycling-type cash handling machine designed to address the needs of various industries where cash is handled—such as retail, transportation, and logistics. Sales of the unit began in March 2025. By standardizing the use of vein authentication, which utilizes internal biological information, the machine offers both high security through reliable user identification and enhanced usability through simple operation—requiring just the placement of a finger.

As an independent manufacturer of vein authentication modules, mofiria remains committed to developing and providing a product lineup and SDKs that are easy, flexible, and seamless to integrate. Our goal is to bring the benefits of biometric authentication—ensuring safety and convenience for users, as well as cost-effectiveness and operational advantages for businesses—closer to everyday life and professional applications across a wide range of fields.

■ About Finger Vein Authentication

Finger vein authentication is a method of accurately identifying individuals by using the unique vein patterns inside their fingers, which vary completely from person to person. Unlike other biometric methods that rely on surface features, this technology uses internal vein patterns, making it extremely resistant to spoofing or forgery, including those generated by AI. It is also unaffected by skin conditions or aging, which contributes to its growing recognition as one of the most secure forms of biometric authentication.

mofiria’s Proprietary Reflection-Scattering Method:
This unique authentication method, originally developed by Sony Corporation, uses near-infrared light emitted from an LED to illuminate the veins. The light scatters within the body, and the reflected light is efficiently captured to read the vein patterns.
